This quartet of talented musicians, from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, has been together for two years. The Common is made up of Patrick Zampogna, vocals and guitar, Joshua Gefroh, guitar and background vocals, Tony Zampogna, bass guitar and Eric Stainbrook, percussion and background vocals. The Common has performed on local Minneapolis stages such as the 400 Bar, The Uptown Bar, The Terminal Bar, The Fine Line, 5 Corners Saloon, The Red Sea, etc., as well as performing on St. Thomas television programs and getting airplay on the local Minneapolis radio station, KFAI. Recently, The Common has released a full length self-titled CD which is full of a mixture of several musical influences. The music has been compared to bands in several genres including The Pixies, Pedro the Lion, Low, Transona Five and Yo La Tengo. Their songs range from angry and aggressive to quiet and subdued. The Common produces sounds that are similar to indie rock bands, experimental rock bands and slow-core bands. The Common has always liked to do things differently. By putting on several of their own shows in various vacant buildings and warehouses, in addition to recording, producing and marketing themselves independently, they have risen above the local music scene and brought back the true meaning of independent. The Common's primary goal is to create and perform new music, and strive to not be like 'the common' band.
